Boots No 7 Liplicious Moisturising Balm

Today I bring you another lipgloss review. I don't know why, but it seems I can't stop buying lipsticks and lipglosses lately! Just wait until Mac releases its new Dazzle lipsticks, Dazzleglasses and Dare to Wear lipglosses though! Anyway today I'm reviewing the new Liplicious lipglosses by No 7, Boots' own make up line. I wandered into my local Boots to find that there are new shades available and according to Boots' website these glosses have also been improved and enriched with rosehip oil, argran oils and SPF15 to help moisturise and care for your lips. (Boots' words, not mine.) Apart from some already existing shades (like Angel Cake and Marshmallow that are both incredibly sheer, albeit very pretty (mostly in the tube)) I found 3 new and surprisingly bright shades: Purple Liquorice, Sherbert Twist and Sweet Peaches. I didn't buy Purple Liquoirice because it was too dark and while pretty in the tube, it was just a dull greyish purple on my hand when I tested it. I did pick up the other two and also as there is currently a 3 for 2 offer on all No 7 make up, one of the older style Liplicious glosses in Tangerine Twist.
Top to bottom: Sherbert Twist, Sweet Peaches, Tangerine Twist
I'm not too sure what's happening with some of the old shades as the Boots website only gives details of 6 new shades, so maybe they will be discontinued. Therefore I will need to go back and pick up another gorgeous shade called Jellybean which I've been oohing and aahing about. Anyway, these glosses are more like balms, they feel really creamy and moisturising, not sticky at all, and in the case of these new colours, are fairly pigmented too. Not as pigmented as they look in the tube (are they ever?), but still not bad. They are quite shimmery, especially Sweet Peaches that has lots of multicolour shimmer, but it is very subtle on the lips and by no means glittery. They are quite expensive at £9.50 each, but you do get 12 ml and with the 3 for 2 offer they end up quite reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend checking them out if you like yourself some lipglosses. See some swatches after the jump!

Upcoming Mac collections in the UK

I have e-mailed Mac to find out which collections are coming out in August and I was told that there are 3 collections: Alice + Olivia (which was supposed to be North America and Asia only originally), Dare to Wear and Digi Pops. The collections are all due out on the first Thursday of the month, which will be the 5th August, and will be online Tuesday 3rd. Alice + Olivia will be exclusive to the Mac website and Harrods only. Digi Pops and Dare to Wear will launch in all locations, except for the Digi Pops Brush Browser which is going to be exclusive to the Mac website and Harvey Nichols only. Rimmel Vinyl Gloss

I have been in a lipstick and lipgloss buying mood lately and as well as the lovely Rose Bikini lipstick (reviewed here) I bought 3 new glosses from Rimmel too. They are called Vinyl Gloss and according to Boots these "have a great shine magnifying formula for beautiful juicy looking lips that are bursting with colour. Its pampering technology features a boosted magnifying Vinyl Shine Complex for a perfectly sculpted pout that is up to 80% shinier! The formula also boasts incredible light refraction and high colour retention for incredibly sexy lips that are sure to catch attention."
Well, I don't know. I mean I like the colours and the formula is nice, non sticky, non drying, but to be honest I have not noticed any magnifying, and I haven't been attracting any more attention lately than before (or certainly not because of these glosses!). They are nice, don't get me wrong, I just hate all this pretentious blah blah.
Anyway, the colours I got are Fashion Icon (coral), Her Majesty (raspberry pink with shimmer) and No Regrets (purple with shimmer). There's also a bit of shimmer in Fashion Icon, but not as much as in the other two. The colours in the tube are very bright, on the lips they're not as bright, but show up well. They cost £4.99 each and there's currently a 3 for 2 offer on these at Boots. Vinyl Glosses are avalable in 14 shades, so there will be something for everyone.

Prestige Satin Pearl Lipstick in Fever

You might remember me wearing Prestige's Satin Pearl Lipstick in Fever in this post. I bought it during one of my recent shopping trips after seeing it on one of my favourite blogs, Musings of a Muse. It's a beautiful coral shade, which seems to be very popular this summer, and I certainly really like my corals. According to Boots: "Prestige Satin Pearl Lipstick offers intense colour depth in a lightweight, creamy formula. Comfortable, long wearing shades with moisturizing ingredients keep lips soft and smooth." I have to say, I couldn't agree more. It is creamy, smooth, goes on very nicely and is very moisturising. This is the first lipstick I have tried from Prestige, but I will most certainly go back and check out the other shades soon! See more pictures and comparison swatches after the jump!

More Superglasses!

I popped over to one of my nearest Mac counters (I have 2 within 20 mins drive) on Monday and decided to pay a bit more attention to the Superglass collection display since last time I was in such a rush grabbing Stereo Rose and all my other In The Groove goodies, I only got a few of them. (You can see my original post on my In The Groove + Superglass haul here.) But since I really been like them, I decided to pick up a few more.
Top to bottom: Sweet Tart, Disco Blend, Sugar Overload
So after swatching all of them again, I decided to buy Sugar Overload, Disco Blend and Sweet Tart. Which really only leaves Tunnel Of Love out, but I really can't see how I would use a dark brown gloss like that. All 3 of the ones I got are pretty light and neutral, can be worn alone for a subtle look or to add shine and sparkle to lipsticks. As they are on the sticky side, they are quite longlasting. I have not had any trouble with the glitter, it doesn't transfer to my face, just disappears as the gloss fades. If you haven't yet checked them out, I thoroughly recommend that you do, don't forget, they're all limited editions. See more photos including swatches after the jump!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Bronze Lipstick in Rose Bikini

I'd already owned a few shades from Rimmel's Moisture Renew lipsticks, but during my recent trip to Superdrug I discovered some new shades from the Bronze summer range. These lipsticks have SPF20 to protect your lips from the sun and also collagen to hydrate and condition your lips (or something like that!). I picked up shade number 020 Rose Bikini which is a shimmery peachy pink shade with fine gold shimmer. It's great for summer especially if you only want a sheer wash of colour on your lips. It has a really nice texture, glides on easily and doesn't dry the lips. Not very long lasting, ordinary lipsticks don't last too long on me anyway, probably lasts for about 2 hours without eating. I really like this lipstick, it's a lovely summery shade and the quality is great. It costs £5.99 and there's a 3 for 2 offer at Boots right now, so it's an even better deal. Stereo Rose old versus new comparison pictures

There have been many people asking/wondering if the new version of Stereo Rose is the same as the old version (released in 2005 in the Gold Play collection). So since I own both versions, I thought I'd post some pictures and swatches in case you're interested. In my opinion the old and new versions are very similar, but not exactly the same. Although bear in mind that due to the nature of MSFs, every one of them are different. But from what I've seen on other blogs and also based on my own 2, the old version is pinker, the new version is a bit more coral-y. It's not a huge difference and if you only have the new version, don't worry about trying to track down the old one, it's close enough. But here they are anyway, so you can make your own mind up.

Mac In The Groove + Superglass Look #6

Are you bored of me yet? Don't worry, this is going to be my last look for a while as I'm going to be very busy in the next few days. Anyway, I created a pink and purple look today, my two favourite colours. I used the pink shade from Fresh & Easy and the darker purple shade from Togetherness mineralize eyeshadow trios, and also the lovely purple shade from Hang Loose mineralize blush. I also used Hang Loose on my cheeks and Rose Maiden lipstick (not from this collection, came out in Spring Colour Forecast) with Cherry Electric superglass. I love this lip combo, Rose Maiden is one of my favourite lipsticks and Cherry Electric is a gorgeous shade too! I also used Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Ransom and Guerlain Le 2 mascara in Violet. Hope you like this look. See more pictures including products used after the jump.

Mac In The Groove Look #5

Today I tried out the lovely green trio called Calm, Cool & Collected. I don't often wear green eyeshadow because I tend to like matching eyeshadows with my clothes and I don't wear a lot of green clothes. I'm not actually wearing much green today, but really wanted to try out this trio anyway. This is definitely one of my favourite eyeshadows from this collection, the colours work well together and that middle green shade is just gorgeous! I also wanted to wear Stereo Rose as I haven't included it in any of my looks lately, even though it is one of my favourite blushes. For the rest of the look I used a new lipstick that I picked up from Boots last Thursday (when I went to my Mac counter for my mega haul), it's a beautiful coral shade from Prestige called Fever. I guess it is similar to Jazzed, but it is brighter and less pink. I also used GOSH eyeliner pencil in Alligator and Guerlain Le 2 mascara in black. Here are some pictures of the look I created and the products used. Sorry for the short post, but it's been a busy day, it's now very late and I'm mega tired. See more pictures after the jump.

Mac In The Groove + Superglass Look #4

Here we go again. Today's look was created using Soften The Mood eyeshadow trio and Happy Together mineralize blush. I know I have used the blush already, but I was in a major hurry this morning, so just grabbed it. I do love it very much anyway, it is a gorgeous peachy nude blush. I didn't use any of the lipsticks or superglasses I got from these collections, because I don't think any of them would really suit this look, so I opted for Sequin lipstick from the permanent line. I also used Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Electric on the lower lashline, No 7 Stay Perfect liquid eyeliner in turquoise above the upper lashline, and Givenchy Phenomen'eyes waterproof mascara in Water Turquoise. And this is what I ended up with. I absolutely love the middle shade of the trio, it's described as pearly rose by Mac, but it's more beige (similar to the lighter half of Happy Together), but in any case it is a beautiful highlighter. I think this trio is my second favourite so far. See more photos after the jump.

Mac In The Groove + Superglass Look #3

As promised earlier, this week I'm working on looks using mainly products from In The Groove and Superglass, so here is another look I've created. Today's look was created by using Fresh & Easy mineralize eyeshadow trio, Band of Roses mineralize blush, By Candlelight mineralize skinfinish, Go For It lipstick and Superflash! superglass. I also used Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Gunmetal on my lower lashline and Guerlain Le 2 mascara in black on my lashes. So far Fresh & Easy has been my favourite of the mineralize eyeshadow trios from this collection (although I'm yet to try a few more of them). The colours are just lovely and work together really well, there's no too dark or too light shade, and the texture is just as smooth and buttery as the other eyeshadows in this collection. Unfortunately though I'm not loving Go For It. For a Creemsheen it doesn't go on very evenly at all, I really struggled with applying it. One coat was just too light and uneven, put more on and it's too dark. I used Superflash! superglass on top of it which did help to smooth it out and make the colour more wearable though. In this look I also used By Candlelight mineralize skinfinish that I'd already owned from Warm & Cosy collection. It is a lovely highlighter and I would recommend getting it if you don't have it. It's just gorgeous and would work well on all skintones. Without further ado, here's some pictures of the look I created. Enjoy!

Mac In The Groove + Superglass Look #2

As promised, here's another look using some of my new goodies from In The Groove and Superglass. To be honest, I'm not too happy about the eyes, I just couldn't get them to look the same, and didn't have time to start again, so had to leave it like this. I think it's okay, especially since I don't walk around with my eyes shut, but I would have liked to make it look better. Anyway, try focusing on my right eye which turned out better. Today's look was created by using Blue My Mind mineralize eyeshadow trio, Happy Together mineralize blush, Jazzed lipstick and Gift Wrap superglass. I also used GOSH eyeliner in Pretty Petrol on my lower lashline and Guerlain Le 2 mascara in black on my lashes. I do like Happy Together blush a lot, it is a very natural looking blush. I used the darker shade fisrt, then the lighter half to highlight, but you can just swirl the two together. Jazzed lipstick is gorgeous, no wonder it's now sold out on the Mac UK website, and Gift Grap superglass complements is very well. The eyeshadows are lovely, although instead of the black shade I'd prefer dark blue, but the lighter and medium blue shades are both gorgeous. Here's the look I created: See more pictures of the look and products used after the jump.

Mac In The Groove + Superglass Look #1

My aim is to do as many FOTDs as possible using my new goodies from In The Groove and Superglass over the next week or so. I will try to use one trio at a time, but might have to add highlighter or crease colour as some of them are not complete looks on their own. I will also test out the blushes and lipsticks, plus the new superglasses. Today's look was created using Togetherness mineralize eyeshadow trio, Hang Loose mineralize blush, I Like It Like That lipstick and Totally Bang superglass. I used the grey shade all over my lid, the dark purple shade in the crease and the light purple shade above the crease and on my browbone. I also added the purple shade from Hang Loose blush above the crease because the light purple shade is quite matte and I prefer a little more shimmer, plus it is a gorgeous colour anyway! Ideally I would like Togetherness to have a medium purple shade instead of the grey, I think it would look better and would be easier to create looks with, but I guess you can always add a medium shade, so the difference between the crease colour and the lightest shade isn't too stark. I also used Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Ransom on the lower lashline and Guerlain Le 2 Mascara in black. I'm not too sure about I Like It Like That lipstick on its own on me, I don't normally wear this shade, but after adding Totally Bang superglass, I was pretty happy with the result. The superglass also made the lipstick so much longer lasting, I really really like it! And the glitters aren't very noticeable at all. Anyway, here's the look I created, let me know what you think. See more photos and the products used after the jump!

My In The Groove and Superglass haul (updated)

I went to my local Mac counter yesterday morning to check out the new collections. I was pretty sure I wanted all the mineralize eyeshadows and blushes as I have all the other ones from past collections (yep, I am a collector, I just love mineralize make up). I also wanted to pick up a Stereo Rose although I already owned it, but wanted to see how different it was (it's pretty much the same by the way). I wasn't sure which lipsticks and superglasses I wanted to pick up, I always check out lip products in person, I find they're not as easy to pull off as eyeshadows and blushes. In the end I bought 3 lipsticks: Go For It, Jazzed and I Like It Like That (all Cremesheen) and 5 superglasses: Superflash, Cherry Electric, Totally Bang, Gift Wrap and Fab Frenzy. My initial opinion is that the eyeshadows are a lot smoother than previous releases, they are very easy to blend and have no fallout. I haven't even swatched everything, but love all the colours. I did try out Togetherness today and will post pictures of my look later. The blushes are very nice too, again haven't tried all of them, only used Hang Loose today and it's really pretty and has a good colour payoff, although it is pretty light, so would probably be more of a highlighter for darker skintones. The lipsticks are all Cremesheens, although I Like It Like That has the best colour payoff, the other two are pretty sheer. I love the superglasses, they are pigmented and very longlasting (for a gloss anyway), although quite sticky (not more so than normal Mac lipglasses though). I don't find them gritty at all and in fact they're not even that glittery on the lips. Here's a picture of my haul in all its glory. See more pictures including lipstick and superglass swatches after the jump!
